Our sponsorship of a Luchador Tag-Team has raised some eyebrows and in the case of Pete some other umm…body parts have been raised but we won’t expand….on that.

For many DHP members the Luchador is a symbol of coolness. It’s tie to the Kustom Kulture world in which many of us dwell (when we are not driving - fixing - breaking vws) is well documented. We thought it would be cool to share a little historical information on Luchadors with the followers of this blog. We figure, if you’re following this blog, sweaty guys in masks in close proximity to one another won’t bother you at all.

The Dry Heat Panzers (DHP) of Tucson, Phoenix, Albuquerque and Pennsylvania announced their planned sponsorship of Tag Team Luchadors “El Paquete de Carne” and “El Pego Burro”.

“I am very pleased that our club is continuing it’s long legacy of financial support for the highest forms of athletic competition and the arts.” acting club President John Clevenger said. “I have met with representatives from the Pro Luchador Wrestling Circuit and remain convinced that DHP through our sponsorship of El Paquete and El Pego Burro will continue to have a tremendous impact on the pageantry, grace and shear awesomeness of Mexican Wrestling for decades to come.”

“It is an honor to make this contribution. A willingness to give and an attitude of servitude are among the greatest characters in being DHP,” said club COO Mary Jane Sarff. “DHP is committed to the state of Luchadors in our communities. I believe this sponsorship will further showcase to the rest of the world our great admiration for these artists. I want to thank Governor Perdue and the General Assembly for their leadership and commitment to sociopathic development and tourism, which this great partnership will certainly contribute.”

The North American Professional Luchador Association (NAPLA) represents the highest level of Luchadoring in the western hemisphere.

Valentines Day! Much love to love….WHAT? We love our Horse race track est. 1943 (at least Lemorris does) and he loves when friends who became not so much friends and became friends again, show some love and indulge his silly desire to support a dying track where he cheers unabashedly for the jockey Don French (He’s the Jockey who favors “Animal” the Muppet)….whom apparently….Lemorris loves. I know right?! Much aforementioned LOVE to the Tucson VW community. In bits and pieces or chunks and slabs it is what it is and it’s always cool.

This is a little different. We got an invite to go on the Sunday Nite Kruise with The K. That would be konceptkultur.com There a Tucson based car conglomerate that is mostly vws and mostly friends like everybody. Tucson is fortunate to have so many active groups in this hobby. DHP was glad to roll with to get some Sonoran HotDogs….hotdog wrapped in bacon with beans and salsa and mustard and mayo and a defibrillator…yummy yum-yum. Here’s the dark vid…enjoy

Ancient Rites is a new tattoo shop in Tucson. Bogee, one of the artists is a local VW enthusiast (blue and white 63) and he asked the community to roll through for the shops grand opening. Lemorris decided to shoot still pictures only, in Ray Harryhausen fashion and make this stop-motiony thingy…whatever…enjoy…it sure looks like he did.

So 2009 was a bit slow up here for us, but 2010 promises to bring more. More of everything. Pics, thoughts, posts, vids, shows, builds, chillin and a better look at what DHP is all about. We have no theme as of yet but we do know that as we step up, we will post up.

That being the case, Lemorris (who develops in a secret lab all by himself) slapped together a a quick vid to get the ball rollin. We don’t know what his point is, but then again…we never do…he’s an artist…WHATcha gonna do?

A couple DHP joined the Tucson Community VWs for a short cruise. A fun time was had by all.

On a pretty dismal Tucson morning we all gathered at the far East end of Speedway to cruise to the far West end of Speedway. As is typical of Tucson the dreary weathered gave way to partly cloudy beautiful warmness and we had chili dogs too.
