2nd Generation DHP Charles Harris has become the photographer for the Arizona chapters gatherings at Little Anthony’s. It’s a long established mostly hotrod show, but by being there for 3 years, DHP has established a place amongst the rodders.
Charles’ dad Lemorris is always too busy filming so he never takes still photos. 12 year old Charles has stepped up to the plate.
We invite you to see a car show through the eyes of a 12 year old.
enjoy!

DHP Ed’s daughter Makayla turned 7 about a week or so ago. Her birthday celebration was part of a 4 “event” weekend for us. This video includes a couple special VW moments. Those who watch it all will get a sneek peek at some up and coming stuff.
Makayla’s party is always one of the biggest and best of the year. Ed really shows how much he cares through his effort…gotta love a dad that works hard…gotta love a grandpa that shakes his groove thang….gotta love Matt saving face (pun intended)….gotta love Makayla because she is. Happy Birthday sweetheart!

Kim is the “much better half” of DHP-NMs Lee. They recently picked up this sweet 65 for her. She says she wants to drop it 22 inches in the front and go 5 outer splines lower on the rear…….ok that was all a lie. Plans call for a little lowering and the full on Lee treatment.
We’re all sure it’ll be another outstanding DHP New Mexico car.

Great score guys!
Congrats!

John’s Type 1 was at Sunport Collision getting a new dress so to speak. We can’t wait to see his car “fully dressed” in the near future.

Nice work Sunport!

Brandon’s brother Kyle recently picked up a sweet Ghia. The first order of business was to get it dropped so his big brother Brandon rolled up his sleeves and knocked out his 3 inch narrowed beam in an afternoon. Brotherly love is one thing, but we gotta give props to Brandon’s skills….wow…..seriously…….WOW! We just can’t believe his ability.

Gary Vroegh, the owner of Stuttgart Autohaus, sent out a Tucson wide VW invite. A few of us decided to roll through. Gary has been working on bringing air-cooled and water-cooled VWs together for years here in Tucson and after this visit I’m sure he will continue to have success in his efforts as well as his business.
Visit The Stuttgart Autohaus Site
Awesome stuff Gary! Thanks for having us.

Just for fun Lemorris started this toon sketch.

This picture is for scale. That’s a Molson canadien beer cap. Lemorris says hi to Rex.
He worked it up a little.

Now he’s probably gonna sit on it for a while. It doesn’t really have a place to go, but it was fun exercise he says.

Just keepin the site fresh. This weekend there will be a lot more coming up. We have a few really cool events coming up, and I think there was an 80’s song named “coming up”…I didn’t like it though.

The Trials : Part 1 - Gassie
“So close. Almost there. Just one more block. COME ON!” I slammed my fist against the steering wheel as my bug rolled to a stop. My eyes closed as I let out a sigh of defeat. I drifted into a sleep like state and entered a world devoid of gas stations. A place where bugs flourished and were powered by wishful thinking, eliminating the tedious task of pulling into the nearest gas station to re-fuel; delaying the arrival to your destination only that much longer because rush hour just wasn’t cutting it. Never again would you be driving along, happy and content, and suddenly have the painful realization that you will no longer be able to continue in this happy forward motion if you do not stop at the next Circle K. Though there are those, the daring few, who will stop at nothing to get the last drops of gas used up before giving into the fear of being stranded on the side of the road. I however, am not only daring, (more…)

The Trials : Part 2 - Windshield Wipers
The weather report called for cloudy skies and a 60% chance of rain. A strong wind was blowing in from the south, washing Tucson over with a cold front in the middle of July. Monsoon season was approaching and the desert was more then ready for it. I, however, was not. Getting off of work at 4pm, I started up the Super and headed towards the freeway. Driving 65mph in strong winds was quite an ordeal. For starters, my hair was down and therefore constantly in my face, making visibility low. The fact that the wind was throwing my bug around on the road did not help either. I tried to ignore the looks I got as a result of swerving back and forth, trying to stay in my lane and not become airborne. Thinking heavy thoughts, a sigh of relief escaped me as I saw my exit appear over the horizon. Flipping I-10 the bird, I got off on 22nd Street. It was smooth cruising from here on. Or so I thought.
