Yeah I know…the title sounds a little dirty and that is no accident. The picture however is relatively clean. It’s a quick look at DHP-Nm Alex’s garage. Now…I forget the years of his cars but know that the blue on has recently been sold but it remains DHP as it was purchased by Alex’s brother. The black bug is a staple in DHP. Now since I’m forgetting everything at this moment I’m ending this post. I’ll update it after I find out what I think I’m talking about. Regardless it’s acool picture.

Good News!
DHP Euro has purchased a small facility to hold their weekly meetings at. This quaint little building is located in Barcelona and believe me, it was a bargain. DHP Tucson’s Nate went over to inspect the building and collect blood samples for the tests he runs to verify DHP worthiness.
Our Euro chapters are thrilled about the acquisition and they are looking forward to structuring their constitution and and saying “har-rumph!” a lot in their meetings.

wow…we really gonna do this?
um…well…ok
Here is Lemorris’ first DHP video. It’s an homage to his car Mistie and it is a little disturbing. You can see how far we’ve come, that’s for sure. Though it be rough, it’s still one we love and it is the one that started it all.
You can see the more recent videos by clicking movies from the menu on the right. Enjoy

Warning this post contains a “soapbox” moment. May cause tears. We are some sensitive M-Effers.
Serious: This is DHP Tim’s Oval. This car can be described in 2 words…SAH WEEEET! In looking at it one might think “that thing won’t win any trophies at a show” and that may very well be true, but DHP ain’t really about “shows and trophies” Out of the 30 or so cars in DHP we consider maybe 5 “show” cars. DHP is about friends.
We could quickly estimate that the DHP members in total have more than 1000 days at car shows. That’s nearly 3 years!…so at this point for a mature club like us…shows aren’t that important. Spending time with friends matters so that’s the main reason we go. Our good friends in the GFK, Lowlife, Undutchables, etc matter. It took time to build relationships with mutual levels of respect eventhough we share different philosophies.
Sure sure someone may say…”What about Mike Grady?…He’s a trophy wh_re!” and we would counter that and say…”If you really knew Mike Grady…you would know he’s not that at all” Mike, Tim, Brandon, Pete, all of Tucson, Phoenix and New Mexico are on the same page. We’re into this for the people and for the car. Our foundation is friendship.
Not Very serious: Tim keeps a Barbie head on the antenna which is a little creppy but very cool because his daughters gave it to him. He walks like George Jefferson and he usually wins in a deal cause he’s a bada_s.

Have you ever seen Brandon’s Single Cab?….Have you ever seen Brandon’s Single Cab…on weed?
Two of our favorite things. Brandon’s SC and the movie “Half Baked”
Brandon’s SC is becoming one of the most recognized busses in the west. Children chase behind him like they do the ice cream man except the ice cream man isn’t normally doin 40 mph and flippin them off. Just kiddin…..Kids love Brandon….he’s like Santa with semi-red ears and a helluva lot of VW knowledge.

OK…:)…sorry….anyway…OK
Two things here. #1 This picture shot through our online forum home lowlifevw.com like a rocket. The subtleness was brilliant to many. Nate on the other hand did not appreciate it all that much. However, Nate has since fallin head over heels for a hottie named Sarah so we think he’ll chuckle.
#2 No offense meant. Our joke is at the movie theme, not at an individual actor so RIP to Heath Ledger.

This is Chad. Why are we posting a picture of Chad?…a bad picture at that…because Chad is always down. ALWAYS. If it’s 2 am and you really want to go get some flapjacks but you don’t wanna go alone….call Chad…he’s down. If you feel like takin a drive down to the supermarket to buy some cabbage and cheeze whiz, but you don’t wanna fly solo…call Chad…he’s always down. One of the greatest additions to DHP ever…..what

DHP sets up and hosts the annual Cruise for Jackson. Jackson was a long time friend and mechanic to many of us and sadly his life was lost. We miss hangin out with him. This picture was taken in Bisbee which was a stop in the inaugural cruise. A lot of cars went and fun was had. It’s also the event that taught us how hard it really is to put on and host a show. A lot of work went into it. Pleasing large groups is difficult, but it was for Jackson so we will hold more.
The best part about this picture? The fact that Brandon looks like a giant. It’s clear from the goofball look on his face that he is on his way to capture a little boy named Jack and grind his bones to make his bread.

As the really cool picture below shows, we do in fact have snow in Tucson. Though it may look like a window sticker that is in fact the DHP monument that the city of Tucson erected in honor of the club. It stands an awe inspiring 80 feet tall and sits on the front yard of the Mayors house. That would then make approximately 17 feet of snow that day…which is normal.
The DHP Monument-o-Love has surpassed the Grand Canyon as the state of Arizona’s most visited attraction. Every DHP member was given a Butterscotch Dilly Bar and a foot massage by the mayor’s hand maidens.
All true….what?

This is a picture of DHP-NM Sam with his kids Gabriella and Carlos after the NM ‘66 Cruise. We’re including this because we would like to take a minute to speak on the character of the members in DHP. Sam is a father, fireman, doctor, boy scount, sports star, seamstress, piano player, ball room dancer, candle maker, deacon, bartender and in general a pretty nice guy. His character demonstrates the character that is completely opposite of the rest of us. We have no idea why he hangs around.
Just kiddin. Sam is DHP because he’s a perfect fit……oh and all that other stuff I said.

DHP-NM Wes is as skilled as they come. He can cut, weld, fold, moonwalk, bake and give sincere sounding councel without making you feel dumb for bearing your pathetic soul to a VW guy. Wes also has the ability to see something in his mind or somewhere and then make that thing. The DHP suitcase boom box is no exception. Now…I’m not gonna say his was the first one we ever saw, but it is without a doubt the coolest one anyone ever saw.
Right on to Wes…you amaze. what

This shot is from one of several thousand roadtrips DHP has made. I think this trip was out to California to get some raisins…we don’t need much of an excuse to cruise. In any case it appears that Terry’s 58 got broken somehow. Why is that significant?….because DHP never…NEVER…has a car breakdown on a trip. N E V E R……that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
p.s. The last 3 sentences were complete lies…sorry.

DHP AZ JR took this shot of DHP Kyle rollin either to or from The Classic in 2007. I guess the main thing to make note of is this is the only way to actually see Kyles Ghia. Around town it’s normally just a blur as Kyles right foot is significantly heavier than his left. This is one of the club favorite pictures so shout out to JR…nice work.

Here’s a nice shot of the aftermath of DHP Kyle’s accident. Kyle was driving Brandon’s car down the street, listening to Jim Nabors like he always does when WHAM!!!! He gets t-boned by a Church van. (no lie). Kyle was lucky he was alone as you can see what would have happened if he had a passenger.
This event is what turned Brandon’s 60 into a donor car. Pieces of this car are spread throughout the club like the flu. It was a great car and we miss it but Brandon’s 60 will heal many wounds when it’s done.

This is a picture of DHP-NM Lee tweakin on a car on his dyno. Yeah I know…his own dyno right? Cool as…well very cool. Lee held a dyno day at his shop the day before the Busses and Balloons show in October 2007.
It should be noted that Lee is a multi-talented individual. He can build high end motors, he writes 19th century poetry, and he’s a very good dancer (as long as he doesn’t have to lead).
On an additional note we need to give a shout out to Lee’s lovely wife Kim. Her interior work is awesome.

see? que?
